One person is dead and another seriously injured after head-on crash in Provo

One person is dead and another is in the hospital after a Wednesday car crash in Provo.

Provo police Sgt. Nisha King said that just before 11:15 a.m., the two cars involved in the crash were driving toward each other from opposite directions on 1860 South. One of the cars crossed the center line just west of Colorado Avenue, and the two vehicles collided head-on.

Each car’s driver was its sole occupant, and both were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. One later died, King said.

One of the drivers was male, the other female, King said.

Police have not yet identified which driver suffered the fatal injuries or released any other identifying information about the victims, pending family notification.
