Forget the record-setting high temperatures of late, it's time to start thinking about ice fishing in Utah

Though the recent unseasonable warm weather may make it seem as though Utah’s reservoirs and lakes may not freeze this year, that’s certain to end soon.

If you have ever wanted to try ice fishing, you might want to consider taking a free seminar at the Division of Wildlife Resources’ Salt Lake office Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Though free, pre-registration is required by visiting http://bit.ly/icefishing2017.

Ice anglers can also watch the seminar live at www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEYAbzmx7NE&feature=youtu.be or the day after the seminar at www.youtube.com/user/UDWR.

Those attending in person not only can ask questions, but they also can win a drawing for a free guided ice fishing trip for two.

Anglers will learn from DWR biologists and from fishing experts from Priority One Fishing and Cabela’s. Topics include an introduction to the sport, tactics for trout and panfish bait angling through the ice and a specific presentation on ice fishing at Strawberry.

For questions about the seminar, call 801-538-4700.
