Two dead in shooting at Sandy home

A teen and an adult died, police said.

A 17-year-old boy and a 50-year-old man each died by suicide Tuesday night in a shooting at a Sandy home, police said.

Sandy police initially reported that two men were dead in the fatal shooting. In an update, police clarified that a teen and a man were dead and that both died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

Police responded to the shooting at about 10:30 p.m. It happened at a house near 9000 South and 700 West, police said. Arriving officers rendered aid, but the teen and the man died at the scene. Police said the two were related.

A witness told police that the two were arguing when the teen pulled out a gun and shot himself. The man called 911, then shot himself with the same gun, police said.
