Meet the police

at Valley Fair Mall

A free Police Safety Fair is today and Saturday at the Valley Fair Mall.

Families will meet and mingle with various police departments including SWAT, the Metro Gang Unit and the Mobile Command Center from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. K-9 demonstrations will be held at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. both days. In addition, information on child fingerprinting and identity-theft prevention will be provided.

IT'S 1980 AGAIN

Veteran rock bands play at USANA

Can you believe how long its been since Def Leppard and Journey has been on the rock radar?

On Wednesday, bring the lighters and party like it's 1980-something to the rockers who are back on tour, albeit with a different lineup.

Serving as Journey's front man is Jeff Scott Soto, taking over for Steve Augeri who took over for Steve Perry. Don't worry, fans will still hear "Don't Stop Believin' " and "Wheel in the Sky."

Def Leppard released a 25th anniversary greatest-hits package last year and won't disappoint those wanting to relive their youth.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. at USANA Amphitheatre. Tickets range from $30 to $76.

trucker demand

Thinking of a career change? According to the state Department of Workforce Services, professional truck drivers are in great demand.

Why not enroll in a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) training program at the Tooele Applied Technology College, which offers an ongoing course any time.

Tuition, registration fees and program fees are included in the three-week course for $785.

The course is taught at the college's West Valley Training Center, located in the Warner Truck Center, 2221 S. 5370 West.
