Posted: 10:17 AM- Utah's Johnnie Bryant was named the Mountain West Conference player of the week for the second time in three weeks Monday, after averaging 21.5 points in victories over UNLV and Air Force last week.
Bryant shared the award with New Mexico's J.R. Giddens, who averaged 27.5 points in wins over Colorado State and Wyoming.
The Utes had not won the award in more than a year before Bryant did it two weeks ago. This is the first time in three seasons that they have won it more than once.
A senior guard, Bryant led the Utes with a season-high 26 points in beating UNLV to knock the Rebels out of first place last week, then scored 17 points in Utah's first victory at Air Force in three years.
