Posted: 4:52 PM- LARAMIE, Wyo. -- Utah receiver Aiona Key, who didn't join the Utes until Sept. 12 because of academic issues, finally showed off the athletic ability that made him such a highly sought after recruit in Utah's 40-7 win over Wyoming.

Key blocked a punt and returned it six yards for his first touchdown as a Ute in the second quarter, giving the Utes a 20-0 lead.

Key said he read the snapper's cadence which let him time his block attempt perfectly.

"He puts his hand down when he snaps and I got ahold of that and busted across the line," he said. "I closed my eyes when I blocked it."

Key earned a reputation as a punt-blocking specialist at Mount San Antonio College where he blocked four in 2007. He returned one of those for a touchdown.

"That was a heck of an athletic play," Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said of Key's score Saturday. "To scoop it up and get into the end zone, he is a heck of an athlete."

Wind doesn't bother Louie Kicker Louie Sakoda seemed the least affected player by the wind when he could have been affected the most. He made field goals of 50 and 39 yards and averaged 40.1 yards on his nine punts.

One of those punts was shanked when the ball went sideways in the wind off the snap while another went 81 yards for the fifth-longest in school history.

"That was ridiculous," he said of the wind. "I got lucky on the field goal attempts when they came early when the wind was still mild. But the snaps on the punts were flying all over the place. 'Wild' is a perfect description of that game."
