Posted: 9:29 AM- Salt Lake City police responding to a report of two men trying to hide a big-screen plasma television in some weeds in an alley foiled a burglary that had just occurred in the 1500 block of South Lincoln Street.
While investigating, an officer reportedly saw a suspicious vehicle pulled up to the alley, then speed off when the driver saw the police. Police stopped the vehicle, and in the meantime a resident approached the officers and reported a burglary.
An investigation at the scene turned up footprints that matched the shoes of the passenger in the suspicious vehicle. The passenger was arrested, and a search of his home turned up more stolen property, police said.
