Maj. Gen. Kevin Sullivan, whose position as commander of the Ogden Air Logistics Center was subject to a proposed cut in a recent downsizing plan, will keep his job, Air Force officials confirmed Tuesday. Sullivan's two-star position was to be eliminated under a plan that would have all wings at Hill Air Force Base report to a three-star general in Ohio. The plan, part of an overall effort to cut hundreds of Air Force Materiel Command positions, was said to be "theoretical" and "pre-decisional," but nonetheless was decried by the Utah base's business and political allies as imprudent. Similar protests were heard from Warner Robins, Ga., and Oklahoma City, Okla., the locations of the Air Force's two other air logistics centers, which also were being considered for a change in management. Sullivan, a 32-year veteran of the Air Force, declined to comment on the plan while it was under consideration and was not available for comment Wednesday. He has been Hill's commander since July 2003. - Matthew D. LaPlante
