Lt. Gov. Gary Herbert's office acknowledged problems with its Web site on Tuesday hindered the availability of election results to the general public, but said it would work to ensure it doesn't happen again.
Users of Macintosh computers had trouble accessing the results when a glitch kept covering the returns with a graphic or displaying the numbers for only a split second. Reporters from The Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret Morning News complained to the office that they were being hampered in trying to obtain results, but election officials weren't sure how to remedy the situation late Tuesday.
'There was a more global problem, that, believe me, we are going to fix before the general election,' Joe Demma, director of Herbert's office, said Wednesday.
He attributed much of the problem to increased traffic to the site after polls closed and a new electronic voting system.
