Salt Lake City police officers twice shot a man with Taser Tuesday night after he allegedly resisted arrest and tried to take one of the officers' pistol.

Police looking for a domestic assault suspect found the man around 11 p.m. Tuesday sleeping on a porch in the 500 East block of 500 South. The officers woke him up, then tried to take him into custody after he allegedly gave them false information.

He resisted arrest and tried to take an officer's gun out its holster, police said. His brother and sister-in-law also allegedly joined the fight.

One of the officers shot the man with a Taser weapon, but the man broke the wires and continued fighting. The other officer then used his Taser on the suspect, who was taken into custody with help from additional officers who arrived during the fight.

The suspect was booked for domestic assault, assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and attempting to disarm a peace officer. His brother and sister-in-law were cited for interfering.
