A 25-year-old Ogden man was found dead in his home, apparently of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, after police were called to his home.

The officers went to the home, in the 600 block of 28th Street, about 8:20 p.m. after the man had sent text messages to his estranged wife that threatened suicide, said Ogden police Lt. Scott Sangberg.

In addition to the man's safety, officers were concerned he had his 3-year-old daughter inside, Sangberg said.

Police knocked on the door and heard a single gunshot from inside.

A SWAT team entered the home about 9:30 p.m. and found the man dead, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot, Sangberg said.

The daughter was found safe in a neighbor's home a short time later.
