Elder Russell M. Nelson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints married Wendy L. Watson on Thursday in the Salt Lake Temple. It is Nelson's second marriage and Watson's first. Nelson's first wife, Dantzel White Nelson, died in February 2005. Their family includes 10 children, 56 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Nelson, 81, was ordained an apostle in April 1984. A surgeon and medical researcher, he received his bachelor's and medical degrees from the University of Utah and a doctorate from the University of Minnesota. His new wife, originally from Raymond, Alberta, is a professor of marriage and family therapy in the School of Family Life at Brigham Young University. She plans to retire on May 1. Watson became a registered nurse in Calgary, earned a bachelor's degree at the University of Hawaii, a master of science from BYU and a doctorate from the University of Calgary. In 1999 and 2000, she was chair of BYU's Women's Conference. Watson has also written several books and addresses that were recorded to CD, including Rock Solid Relationships and Things Are Not Always as They Appear. - Jessica Ravitz
