The Summit County Commission voted unanimously Wednesday to deny a proposal by a Chicago developer to build a 275,000-square-foot hotel near Park City. A 1994 agreement allowed a 140-room hotel at Sun Peak, just north of the Utah Olympic Park. But Commissioner Sally Elliot said Terrace Development's current proposal did not conform to the preliminary site-plan approval. "We're very pleased with the commission's ruling," said Jeff Kaiser, president of the Sun Peak Homeowners Association. Kaiser expects Terrace Development to appeal the decision, but vows to keep fighting the hotel plan. "We'll just continue on with this as long as we have to so our neighborhood remains a small community." Brad Cahoon, an attorney for Terrace Development, had no comment Wednesday. - Christopher Smart
