For the second time in a week, a storm moved above northern Utah early Wednesday and slickened the morning commute.

The snow stopped about 10 a.m. The National Weather Service reported about 5 inches of snowfall from midnight to 11 a.m. at Salt Lake City International Airport.

As much as a foot of fresh powder is expected at Alta and Snowbird ski resorts, said Eugene VanCor with the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City.

On Thursday, a similar storm settled above Utah during the morning commute and caused widespread traffic delays. Wednesday's troubles appeared milder.

The Utah Highway Patrol reported 52 car crashes and 15 cases of cars sliding off the road this morning in Salt Lake County. The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office said it responded to 22 accidents from about 5 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. No serious injuries were reported.

All roads were open as of 11 a.m. Interstate 80's eastbound lanes were closed for about two hours this morning in Parley's Canyon. Westbound I-80 was closed for about an hour between Park City to Parley's Canyon.

The storm migrated from the Pacific Northwest, VanCor said, and is moving east.
