Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson named a new airport police chief Monday. Steven Marlovits will start April 1, supervising 60 officers at the international airport. Marlovits is now the chief of safety and security for the Roanoke Regional Airport Commission in Virginia, according to a news release. That airport handles 60 flights a day, while Salt Lake City's sees nearly 1,000. Marlovits' background includes 34 years of law enforcement experience, including 29 in an airport, according to the release. He was a police officer at the Tampa International Airport and is graduate of the FBI's National Academy. - Heather May
