WASHINGTON - The Senate has passed a resolution sponsored by Sen. Orrin Hatch designating today as "Feed America Thursday." "Too many Americans suffer from hunger each day," Hatch said. "Feed America Thursday gives all of us the opportunity to help those in need so no one will go hungry during this Thanksgiving season." The resolution, passed late Tuesday, encourages Americans to skip two meals today and donate the money they would have used to buy food to a charity or religious organization to feed the hungry. Rep. Chris Cannon, R-Utah, has sponsored a similar resolution in the House. According to the Agriculture Department, 33 million Americans, including 13 million children, do not have enough to eat.
