Gary T. Forbush

Fresh from his victory in the Real Salt Lake soccer stadium sweepstakes, Mayor Tom Dolan finds himself in his closest contest in a dozen years. Will Sandy voters give the three-term incumbent the boot in favor of political newcomer Gary T. Forbush?

Murray

Big names

Dan Snarr

David Wilde

Salt Lake City

Main event

OK, so Mayor Rocky Anderson isn't on the ballot. But four council seats are, and today's outcome will help shape the next two years in his second term - and beyond - as Utah's capital prepares for a major Main Street makeover.

Sandy

Sandy voters will decide whether big-box stores - Wal-Mart and Lowe's Home Improvement - can locate in a former gravel pit. The fate of this referendum also could swing the mayor's race. The mayor supports the planned development. His challenger opposes it.
