Halloween is often about blood and guts. For Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson, this year's version is going to be about hearts and kidneys - and anything else that has to do with organ donation. Anderson is throwing a Halloween bash to help raise money for a water fountain and glass wall etched with the names of persons who donate organs. The Celebration of Life monument was installed more than a year ago but a bill - which was supposed to be covered through private donations - still looms. The monument is at Salt Lake City's Library Square. It cost $636,000 and in September the mayor needed another $336,000 to pay the bill. The issue made news because a nonprofit agency organized to raise money for the monument dissolved. Salt Lake City will have to pay for the rest of the bill if it hasn't been paid off by year's end. Anderson's ball - costumes are mandatory - will begin at 7 tonight at Nouveaux Alt, 353 W. 200 South, Suite 100. Tickets at the door are $125. The event also will feature an art auction to raise money for the monument. - Jacob Santini
