Applications are available for cultural organizations interested in receiving a portion of the Zoo, Arts and Parks money distributed through Salt Lake County. Applicants must have a nonprofit 501(C)(3) status and expenditures of no more than $302,700. All Tier II organizations must apply this fall for funding, regardless of whether they applied this spring. Submissions are due Oct. 21. In 1996, county voters approved a ballot initiative designed to fund recreational facilities as well as botanical, cultural and zoological organizations. Salt Lake County collects one additional penny on every $10 spent in the county for the effort. To answer questions about the ZAP process, county officials have scheduled a workshop for today from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the County Government Center, 2001 S. State St. It will be held in the County Council chambers Room N1100. Electronic copies of the Tier II applications can be found on the ZAP Web site at http://www.slcozap.org. Applicants also can call 801-468-3517 or 801-468-3571 for information.
