The state Board of Regents unanimously elected Jed Pitcher as vice chairman, filling a vacancy left by E. George Mantes, whose term ended in June. As vice chairman, Pitcher will work closely with Chairman Nolan Karras and will serve on the executive committee of the board, which governs Utah's public colleges and universities. Appointed a regent in 2000, Pitcher previously was chairman of the regents' Finance and Facilities Committee and the Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority board of directors. He recently retired as as the chairman of the board of Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield of Utah and as the president and chief operating officer of The Regence Group.
