Five finalists from among more than 160 applicants will be interviewed by Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. for a spot on the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole. The list was whittled down by the executive committee of the Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice. The governor will make the final call on who will replace Mike Sibbett, who is retiring at the end of this month. Once he makes the appointment, Huntsman will select one of the five board members to be chair. The finalists are Brenda Beaton, a Weber County deputy attorney; Cliff Butter, director of planning and research for the Department of Corrections; Kay Cornaby, an attorney with Jones, Waldo, Holbrook and McDonough; Keith Hamilton, a self-employed attorney, and Clark Harms, a Salt Lake County deputy district attorney. Sibbett has served on the board for 15 years, the last 12 as chairman. The other members are Don Blanchard, Curt Garner, Cheryl Hansen and Jesse Gallegos.
