The crew of the hit reality show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" graciously rebuilt a Bountiful family's home last week - then promptly lost another type of home loaned to them by a Salt Lake County business.

A 39-foot-long 2000 Fleetwood Bound 39-Z motor home that had been parked in an LDS church parking lot near 750 East and 550 South in Bountiful was last seen Monday being driven away by an unidentified person.

"We don't know if it's stolen or if an employee drove it somewhere," Bountiful police Cpl. Carl Crall said.

"We've patrolled all throughout the area and nobody has seen it."

The $90,000 vehicle and two other RVs were loaned to the "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" crew by Ardell Brown RV Center, of Sandy, at the beginning of August. Cast and crew members used the vehicles during breaks to stay out of the heat.

Rob Terry, director of sales for the RV center, said the crew had left the keys in the ignition and the doors to the missing RV unlocked.

The ABC show provided security for the RVs while filming the makeover of the home but left Monday afternoon when production was over. Clues to its disappearance and location are scarce.

"A motor home can go and sit somewhere and nobody would know it's stolen," Terry said.

Show production coordinator Diana Hofstein declined to comment Saturday on the missing RV.

Two calls to the show's location manager were not returned. However, Terry said the show is cooperating with authorities to help find the motor home.

For use of the RVs, Terry said the show provided Ardell Brown RV Center with a certificate of liability insurance to indemnify the RV company from damage or theft of the vehicles.

Bountiful police investigators have entered the missing RV into the National Crime Information Center, a database that lists stolen property, missing persons and crime suspects throughout the country.

"It will show up somewhere, someday," Crall predicted. "It's too big to hide."

Anyone with information about the missing RV can call Bountiful police at 801-298-6000.
