The Board of Regents will meet in executive session at Dixie State College on Tuesday to interview the candidates for the job that will pay $145,000 a year. The candidate will replace Robert Huddleston, who is stepping down after serving 12 years in the position.
The Presidential Search Committee recommended the finalists from a pool of 74 candidates representing 31 states.
The finalists:
l Dixie State Executive Vice President of Academics Lee G. Caldwell since August 2004. Caldwell previously served as an associate dean at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta from December 2002 to May 2004 and has been an assistant dean for the College of Business and Graduate School of Business at the University of Utah.
l Christine Chairsell, the interim vice chancellor for Academics and Student Affairs for the University and Community College System of Nevada since July 2004. She serves as the Nevada State Director of Community Colleges and has been an associate vice chancellor for the Nevada system since 2000.
l Utah Valley State College Vice President for Academic Affairs Bradley J. Cook since 2002. Cook has also served as UVSC's vice president for college relations from 1999-2000 and before that was an assistant professor at Brigham Young University for two years.
l Mark H. Spencer, associate commissioner for the Utah System of Higher Education since May 2002. He also serves as the executive director for the Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority since May 2004. Spencer previously held other various positions at UVSC at the College of Eastern Utah.
