A volunteer for the Islamic Society of Greater Salt Lake. The director of the Utah Council of LaRaza. A retired BYU professor. They are part of a 15-member panel selected by Mayor Peter Corroon as Salt Lake County's Council on Diversity Affairs. The group - the successor to the county's Hispanic-Latino Task Force - is comprised mostly of longtime residents who have served on other volunteer boards and commissions. Members will serve terms of one or three years. Assembling monthly, the council will be asked to identify the county's strengths and weaknesses in economic development, delivery of services, cultural education, employment practices and future needs. Their list of recommendations will be forwarded to Corroon.
