An often-overlooked group of emergency workers was recognized last month by Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr.
Huntsman was in St. George for the Utah State Board of Regents meeting at Dixie State College and took time to meet with local officials about the potential for flooding during the spring.
But after the meetings were through, the governor walked through the St. George Police Department to meet individually with many of the dispatchers and thank them for doing "phenomenal jobs" during the winter flooding. He said dispatchers are often overlooked, and he wanted them to know the state was thinking about them.
