The mayors in Salt Lake County are taking on underage drinking. The 17 mayors have agreed to fund a public-awareness campaign regarding the dangers of youths drinking alcohol. They hope the campaign cuts the number of underage drinkers in half during the next two years. The motivation behind the campaign is a recent American Medical Association study that showed adolescent alcohol use damages brain growth. A budget for the campaign hasn't been set yet but a marketing firm - W Communications - is already working on the push. "We'll be working with what they've got," said Mark Hurst, president of W Communications. Ideally, the message will be seen on television and heard on the radio, Hurst said. - Jacob Santini
