Utah Democrats have selected Sen. Gene Davis to replace outgoing Sen. Ron Allen as minority whip. Allen stepped down late last month to become one of three Public Service Commission members. Davis, of Salt Lake City, served in the Legislature from 1987-1998 in the House of Representatives, and joined the Senate in 1999. Outside the state house, he works in public relations and advertising. Allen's 12th District Senate seat was filled by former state Rep. Brent Goodfellow. - The Associated Press
