Bennett joins Homeland funding subcommittee

WASHINGTON - Utah Sen. Bob Bennett will hold the purse strings to national security programs after picking up a seat on the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee. Bennett assumes a new seat on the homeland defense panel that was created when Appropriations Chairman Sen. Thad Cochran, R-Miss., gave up his seat on the subcommittee. The Utah Republican gives up a seat on the appropriations subcommittee that funds the legislative branch to take the homeland security post. - Christopher Smith
