Gunman holds up Jamba Juice store in Salt Lake City
A gunman robbed a Jamba Juice store in Salt Lake City of an undisclosed amount of money Sunday. The robber - described as 6 feet tall, 160 to 180 pounds and in his 20s with bad acne - held up the business at 613 E. 400 South at about 6:50 p.m. The man was wearing a dark coat, dark beanie and gloves.
Man charged with burglary of police officer's home
A man already charged with tying up and robbing an Orem woman and her 3-year-old son in November was charged Monday with burglarizing the Salt Lake County home of a Sandy police officer. When Sean Anthony Gayou, 21, was arrested for the Nov. 23 home invasion robbery, he was in possession of the Sandy officer's gun, badge and handcuffs, according to court documents. The police officer's home was burglarized Nov. 17.
Tooele boy critical after car-semitrailer collision
A Tooele boy was in critical condition Monday after his car went into oncoming traffic and collided with a semitrailer on state Road 201 near 11900 West. The boy, 17, suffered serious leg injuries after the truck's axle and wheels penetrated his car, said Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Wade Breur.
Woman sustains neck wound in shooting at SLC home
A 20-year-old woman suffered a flesh wound Sunday when she was shot in the neck at a home in Salt Lake City. According to police, the woman's boyfriend took her to the hospital and said it was an unknown shooting. The victim, however, told police the shooting was an accident, said police spokesman Dwayne Baird. Officers found more than one gun at the home, in the 800 East block of 800 South, and some drugs. The boyfriend was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
Man arrested after pipe bomb allegedly found
A 26-year-old man was arrested Monday after a co-worker allegedly found a pipe bomb in the man's toolbox at a snowmobile repair shop in the Garff Ranch properties southeast of Park City. The bomb was detonated by the Salt Lake City Police Department bomb squad, and nobody was injured. The man indicated he had made the device about a year ago to control ground squirrels, and there was no evidence the bomb was intended for use as a weapon, according to the Summit County Sheriff's Office. The man was arrested for manufacturing and possessing illegal explosives.
