* Spring chicken: Huntsman, 44, is the third youngest person elected to the office. The youngest was the state's first governor, Heber M. Wells, who was just 36 when he took the oath Jan. 6, 1896. Mike Leavitt was the second youngest, at 42, for his 1993 inauguration.

* Four more years? Historical odds favor Huntsman serving two terms. All but three of the previous 14 elected governors lasted at least eight years and two were elected to three terms. Utahns last turned out a governor after a single term in 1924.

* Republican record: If Huntsman serves out his term, it will tie the 24-year record for the longest period of single-party control of the Utah governor's office. The mark was set by Democrats from 1925 to 1949. If Huntsman serves a second term, it would set a new record.

* By the numbers: With Huntsman assuming office, Utah has had 10 Republican governors and six Democrats. Republicans have controlled the governor's office 60 years and Democrats 48. Huntsman, upon completion of his first term, will tip that balance further in favor of the GOP.
