"I am pleased with the results and grateful for the enormous amount of work that has been done by these committees," Huntsman said in a statement. "It demonstrates a high level of commitment to the future of this state from some of our finest public and private sector leaders."
Each of the transition teams presented Huntsman, who takes office Jan. 3 as Utah's sixteenth governor, a three- to five-page summary and a 30-minute oral presentation about its findings, which range from suggestions of consolidation to personnel changes to priorities. The teams did not recommend policies, according to Team Executive Director Greg Hopkins.
While Huntsman's staffers did not publicly release any of the findings, Hopkins said the committees made "significant recommendations" that if implemented will lead to a better state government.
Huntsman, who called the reports "a significant tool as we establish priorities for this administration," said he will hold a news conference on Jan. 5 to announce appointments for Cabinet-level positions, but some other hires will come later.
