She has been a go-cart racer, a trooper, a construction worker, a golfer, a basketball star and curling player.

Oh yeah, and governor.

Gov. Olene Walker - who tonight gives her farewell address - has played many parts during her 12 years as lieutenant governor and now-chief executive, from directing pomp and circumstance events to mugging with comedian Bill Cosby. She may be 74, but that doesn't seem to slow her a bit.

"The main thing is she's a real person," says spokeswoman Amanda Covington. "She's more interested in friendships and relating to people than sound bites and being formal. That's why people love her so much."

And the cameras love her, too.

Despite a picture of her racing legislators in a go-cart - which she calls the worst-picture ever - the governor has been captured in many a flattering pose. As Walker says goodbye to residents tonight from the Governor's Mansion, The Salt Lake Tribune presents a few unforgettable images of Utah's 13-month governor and 11-year lieutenant governor.
