Salt Lake County Mayor-elect Peter Corroon has selected former Salt Lake City Mayor Ted Wilson as honorary chairman of his transition team. "I said, 'Sure, I'd love to,' " said Wilson of Corroon's request. Corroon, who has yet to announce his major appointments and staff choices, will huddle with his transition team Wednesday. Wilson, who also served as director of the Hinckley Institute of Politics at the University of Utah, said Corroon is approaching his new job the right way. "You do it person by person," Wilson said of Corroon's expected staff changes. "Don't go in with any preconceived ideas. You review everybody and go through it job by job." The former mayor predicted some appointees will remain - not all will be decided by inauguration - while those associated with Nancy Workman's scandals will not. "Uprooting some of those people that were marginally connected to some of those problems," Wilson said, "I think [Corroon] may have to do that." - Derek P. Jensen
