Salt Lake City will spend $24.5 million on capital improvements this fiscal year from the grand ($1 million to rebuild streets) to the minor ($50,000 to build bicycle lanes). Council members approved the budget Tuesday night. Almost half of the money, $14.6 million, will pay off past debt. Here are the top-ticket items:

$1 million to continue making improvements at Liberty Park.

$600,000 for ADA ramps at corners and walkways.

$600,000 to rebuild eight tennis courts at Oak Hills Tennis Complex, 2425 E. 1216 South.

$500,000 for improvements to the streets and sidewalks in the 9th and 9th shopping district.

On the last item, the council opted for a traffic signal instead of a roundabout after business property owners said they wouldn't agree to raise their own taxes to generate $200,000 toward the project.
