Republican Colleen Johnson was poised to unseat Tooele County Commissioner Gene D. White, a Democrat, Tuesday night with all but the final votes counted. She was leading by more than 1,200 votes.
In Wasatch County, two incumbent Democrats were losing their seats on their County Council.
Republican Steve Farrell had a 600-vote edge over incumbent Annie McMullen with all but two precincts counted for the Wasatch County at-large Seat B. Incumbent Wayne Hardman lost by a mere 10 votes to Republican Kendall Crittenden for Seat D in south Heber.
For Midway's Seat E on the Wasatch County Council, voters elected Republican Mike Kohler over Democrat Valerie Jean Kelson, who had upset incumbent Bill Young in the primary.
With two-thirds of the precincts' votes counted, Republican Kipp Bangerter was defeating Democrat Lambert Deegan for Seat G representing the south part of Wasatch County.
In Summit County, Stephen Osguthorpe, a Republican, had a big lead over Sally Elliott, a Democrat, for the commission seat being vacated by Democrat Shauna Kerr. Osguthorpe is a longtime rancher from the Park City area.
Davis County voters elected another Republican, Alan Hansen, to replace Michael Cragun, whom Hansen defeated in the primary for Davis County Commission. Hansen was leading Democrat Chris J. Martinez 3-to-1 with half of the precincts' votes counted.
With a third of Weber County's ballots counted, Republican Craig Dearden had a comfortable lead over Democrat Mike Monson for the open commission seat.
Two Republican incumbents on the Cache County Council were swamping their Democratic challengers.
Darrel Gibbons looked certain to win a sixth term representing the north part of Cache County against Jeremy Threlfall. Kathy Robison of Logan appeared poised to win a second term against Angie Baker.
In Beaver and Juab counties, voters ousted incumbent commissioners.
Republican incumbent Beaver County Commissioner Pat Yardley was bounced in favor of Democratic challenger Chad Johnson.
The final vote was 1,463 to 1,038.
Democratic incumbent Juab County Commissioner William B. Howarth lost, with 1,607 votes to Val W. Jones' 1,724 votes.
