Van Dam's song for 'giggles' takes shots at Bennett

Democratic Senate candidate Paul Van Dam has transformed an old song into a campaign statement playing on area radio stations.

Van Dam's version of "Won't You Come Home, Bill Bailey?" takes jabs at Republican incumbent Sen. Bob Bennett for his absence during the campaign season and his stance on nuclear issues.

"You busted the budget, Bobby. Gonna set up a bomb. And you know that's just plain wrong," Van Dam croons. "Remember them Utahns, Bobby, who suffered so with cancer and such misery. Well, you know you're to blame. Ain't that a shame? Bob Bennett, won't you please come home?"

Van Dam wraps up with a plea for votes. The Democrat is 40 points down in the polls and has raised about 5 percent of the money the incumbent senator has. At this point, he says, he's just enjoying the campaign. He says his song is for "giggles."
