The Salt Lake City Police Department is investigating allegations that Utah County Attorney Kay Bryson used a Utah County sheriff's detective to secretly install county-owned video surveillance equipment in a Salt Lake City condominium owned by his estranged wife, state Rep. Katherine Bryson. Kay Bryson says the equipment was legally installed in hopes of catching a burglar. His son Scott was living in the condo at the time and said he had found some items "out of place." But Katherine Bryson alleges that her husband and son knew she was using the condo and the equipment was placed to gather evidence of an affair. Katherine Bryson filed a report with Salt Lake City police Sept. 1, saying the alleged incident took place Oct. 16, 2003. Detectives have been unable to confirm her story. - Nicole Warburton and Matt Canham
