Workman - who has been charged with two felonies but is continuing her re-election campaign - took issue with questions from RadioWest host Doug Fabrizio and left the show about 15 minutes into the program.
Fabrizio asked the Republican mayor about her statements that an independent, bipartisan panel that had recommended the charges was beholden to Democratic District Attorney David Yocom because they signed an oath. The host specifically asked about Utah County Attorney Kay Bryson, a Republican.
"Doesn't seem plausible, mayor, does it?" Fabrizio asked. "I mean, [Bryson] may have signed an oath, but you really don't respect Kay Bryson's independence or integrity? Forget the technicalities -"
Workman interrupted. "Oh, my goodness. Hey, if you're going to talk like that -"
"Talk like what?" Fabrizio asked.
"See ya later Doug. Thank you very much." Trailing off, she adds: "That's bad news. That's bad news. Thank you."
Workman campaign manager Chris Bleak says the mayor was frustrated.
"The questions were frank, and at times, a bit hostile and leading," Bleak said.
Fabrizio said in an interview later that the mayor has a standing invitation to come back, but that he will still ask her tough questions.
"It gives me no pleasure that the Salt Lake County mayor walked off the show," Fabrizio said. "That's not my shtick. . . . I have to ask these questions. That's my job."
