THE MATHESONS

Jim Matheson

Scott Matheson Jr.

THE GRANDFATHER: Scott Matheson was the U.S. Attorney for Utah.

THE FATHER: His son, Scott Matheson, was elected as Utah governor in 1976 and re-elected in 1980.

THE SONS: Scott Matheson Jr. was the U.S. Attorney for Utah and is the dean of the University of Utah Law School. He is campaigning to be Utah's governor. Jim Matheson was elected to Congress four years ago and was re-elected in 2002. He is running for a third term.

THE BENNETTS

Bob Bennett

THE FATHER: Wallace Bennett was elected to represent Utah in the U.S. Senate in 1950, 1956, 1962 and 1968 before choosing not to run for a fifth term.

THE SON: Bob Bennett was elected as Utah's junior senator in 1992. He was re-elected in 1998 and is running for a third term.

THE HUNTSMANS

Jon Huntsman Jr.

THE FATHER: Jon Huntsman Sr. was an assistant to President Nixon. He briefly challenged sitting Gov. Norm Bangerter for the Republican nomination in 1988 before dropping out of the race.

THE SON: Jon Huntsman Jr. was a White House staff assistant under President Reagan and was the U.S. ambassador to Singapore and chairman for Envision Utah. He is running for governor.
