Acting Salt Lake County Mayor Alan Dayton has expanded his Cabinet and shuffled other staffers since taking over from Nancy Workman, who now is on paid leave while facing felony charges.

Dayton shifted Communication Director Ted Phillips to another post, replacing him with press officer Rob Jeppsen. Dayton also named intergovernmental liaison Karalee Trevino as his senior adviser.

The acting mayor has added the independently elected auditor, Sean Thomas, and deputy district attorney Gavin Anderson to his Cabinet along with Trevino, Jeppsen and Holly Pitcher Robb, who will now serve as director of economic development.

Last week, Dayton placed Workman's "closest adviser," chief operating officer Gerrie Shaw, on paid leave. On Friday, he moved Shaw's secretary, Madolyn Grice, to the Clark Planetarium as a special events assistant.

None of the staffers will receive a pay increase as a result of the changes.

Phillips, Workman's top communications aide, will remain in his office but take the role of county marketing director with primary responsibility for economic development and public works departments.

Trevino has worked in the Mayor's Office for 3 1/2 years as a liaison with responsibility over community councils and municipal governments. She also helped Dayton develop and coordinate the county's state legislative agenda.

Jeppsen, who was hired by Workman in June at $44,000 a year, was a staffer in Washington for Utah's U.S. Sens. Orrin Hatch and Bob Bennett. He also worked previously for former Reps. Howard Nielson and Merrill Cook.

Other members of Dayton's Cabinet - Chief Administrative Office David Marshall and three department directors - will remain.
