Romney blasts Obama stimulus plan
Provo » President Barack Obama failed to deliver on his promise to fix the economy, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney declared Thursday.
"It has been a bad miscalculation," Romney said of the Obama stimulus package. Romney, speaking at the ribbon-cutting for APX Alarm's new corporate headquarters in the Provo Riverbottoms, said entrepreneurs, not bureaucrats, are going to pull the country out of the recession.
"The best thing the country can do is unleash the power of entrepreneurs and get [out] of the way," Romney said. He said government does have a role: Ensuring people get the best education possible and lowering taxes he sees as hurdles to economic progress.
Alex Dunn, APX's chief operating officer, said he got lots of tips on how to run a successful company from Romney when he was chief of staff to the Massachusetts governor.
Romney would not comment on whether he was going to make another run for the presidency in 2012. Right now, he said his priority is getting those he sees as good candidates elected in 2010, including U.S. Sen. Bob Bennett and Utah Gov. Gary Herbert.
