Knocked down once, Salt Lake County Council hopeful Diane Turner might re-enter the ring for round two.

The Murray Democrat announced Monday she may challenge Republican David Wilde next year for his District 3 seat on the County Council -- a position that would represent a central-valley constituency from Murray, Taylorsville and part of West Valley City.

Turner tried snatching the seat in 2006, but lost by about 900 votes in a race with more than 27,000 ballots cast.

"I had a strong message of promoting transparent, proactive leadership and providing a voice to our growing communities," she wrote in a statement Monday. "That message resonated with the public then, and I believe it's still important today."

Turner hasn't declared an official run, but she has opened a campaign account to explore the possibility of a rematch in 2010 against Wilde, who plans to seek a fourth term.
