Funeral services have been scheduled for Springville Fire Chief Phillip Whitney.
Whitney, 72, was found dead in his home Wednesday after complaining of a stomach ache overnight. He had been with the department as a volunteer since about 1977, and became its first chief in the early 1980s.
A viewing will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the department's new fire station, Station 41, located at 75 West Center Street in Springville.
A second viewing will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, before funeral services begin at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel at 800 N. 400 East in Springville.
Whitney will be given full firefighter honors, including an honor guard at the viewing and a procession from the chapel to the Evergreen Cemetery at 400 E. 1900 South where he will be buried.
