Odd Fellows Hall isn't going anywhere yet.

The subcontractor hired to move the 118-year-old building has walked off the job as part of a contract dispute, according to the company hired to handle the move, Sandy-based Layton Construction.

The 118-year-old historic building was scheduled to be moved across Market Street Tuesday after more than a year of planning.

Layton Construction last year hired subcontractor Emmert International of Clackamas, Ore., a building-moving company. In April, Emmert started the move by lifting the building from its foundation, moving it 115 feet to the west and rotating it 180 degrees, then moving back to its original location.

That maneuver went smoothly. The building was slated to reach its new home in July.

The move is designed to open up space just west of the Frank E. Moss U.S. Courthouse at 350 S. Main St. for a new federal courthouse.
