One of the top outdoor travel events of the spring in northern Utah each year is the Great Salt Lake Bird Festival. The event features guided field trips to birding hotspots in northern Utah, including behind-the-gates tours to several places the public does not normally get to visit, as well as a dinner and booths with vendors, food, art and youth programs. It is scheduled May 15-19, and program booklets for the 10th annual festival are now available from Davis County Community and Economic Development.
It is a good idea to register for the tours early, because some fill up quickly. Program information and registration forms are also available at www.greatsaltlakebirdfest.com. The special guest speaker this year is Rosalie Winard, who just released her book Wild Birds of the American Wetlands.
