After a three-year concept-to-construction process, the Jackson Mountain Resort aerial tram has finally opened. The larger, faster Big One soars 4,139 vertical feet, reaching the top of Rendezvous Mountain in nine minutes. At the top, skiers can enjoy a 360-degree view of the Teton Mountains and the area below as well as choose from numerous ski routes. Those who want to see how the tram was built and learn a bit about the process can log on to www.tramformation.com. Content includes documentation of the construction project by filmmaker Peter Pilafian, the people behind the machine, and the resort itself. According to resort officials, the tram is one of the most expensive and technically challenging in the United States. It is twice the size of the original and will carry 100 passengers. The sleek new cabins and new base terminal add to the ambience.
