A Taylorsville woman accused of robbing six banks in a 24-hour period earlier this month, has been charged in one case, and additional charges are to follow, prosecutors said.

Nannette Louise Perkins, 40 — who wore distinctive plaid pajama bottoms during five of the six heists — was charged Monday in 3rd District Court with one count of second-degree felony robbery.

Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill said charges in the other five cases are coming, but each will be filed separately.

Perkins began her crime spree at 1:15 p.m. on April 14 by robbing the Chase Bank at 3430 S. Redwood Road in West Valley City, according to charges.

The next morning, a Saturday, Perkins hit five more banks, in Salt Lake City, Cottonwood Heights and Sandy, in the span of about three hours, a spree that ended at 11:55 a.m., charges state.

In each case, Perkins passed a note to the teller demanding cash.

In the West Valley City case, for instance, the note said, "100s and 50s no noise/no problem," charges said.

Perkins was arrested at her home on Sunday, April 16, after police — who had disseminated surveillance photos from the robberies to news organizations — got a tip about her identity, charges state.

A Salt Lake City police officer arrested her when she answered the door, having recognized her from the surveillance photos, charges state.

When Perkins' boyfriend, who was at the home, learned the police were investigating a bank robbery, he told them, "It must be related to the thousands of dollars Perkins said she had recently received as a Social Security payment," charges state.

After obtaining a warrant to search the home, police found checkered pajama bottoms, a grey shirt, a blue bandana and other clothing worn by the bank robber, charges state.

Police also found a journal with some pages missing, as well as a torn up note demanding money and an additional note stating, "Please give me all the cash in the drawer now," charges state.

Officers also found "a significant amount of cash in high denominations," charges state.

The other banks Perkins is suspected of robbing are:

• Chase Bank at 1295 S. Redwood Road in Salt Lake City

• Wells Fargo Bank at 4711 S. Highland Drive in Holladay

• University Federal Credit Union at 7220 S. Highland Drive in Cottonwood Heights

• Wells Fargo Bank at 9311 S. 2000 East in Sandy

• Deseret First Credit Union at 9325 S. Village Shop Drive in Sandy

Court records show Perkins has felony theft- and credit card fraud-related convictions in 2012 and 2013, as well as past misdemeanor assault and criminal trespassing convictions.
