South Salt Lake police are looking for a vehicle that could have a connection to an Easter Sunday slaying near the Jordan River Parkway Trail.

Matthew Holt, 46, of South Jordan, was found dead in his Mazda sedan about 2:45 p.m. April 16 in a parking lot in the area of 3200 South and 900 West. Police say he had been shot inside the vehicle and the car door was ajar.

South Salt Lake Police Department spokesman Gary Keller said that investigators are trying to locate a 2012 to 2016 silver Chevrolet Sonic Hatchback that was seen on surveillance tape in the area before and after Holt was killed.

In addition, police are trying to identify several people who were on the trail from about 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the day of the homicide and could be potential witnesses.

"These people on the trail may have seen something or have critical information," Keller said. "Please, please, please come talk to us. We're trying to get all the information we can."

Anyone with information is asked to contact South Salt Lake police dispatch at 801-840-4000. All calls are confidential and callers can remain anonymous.
