A 7-year-old who was struck by an SUV near John C. Fremont Elementary School in Taylorsville on Thursday afternoon is in the hospital with injuries that aren't life-threatening.

Witnesses reported the boy running into the the street, where an SUV hit him, Unified police Lt. Brian Lohrke said.

The boy has been taken to Primary Children's Hospital and possibly broke some bones, but there is no head trauma, as police had initially thought, Lohrke said. The driver stayed at the scene, near 4249 S. Atherton Drive, and is cooperating with the investigation, which is ongoing Lohrke said.
