The West Jordan Police Department is offering a $750 reward for help from the public in locating those responsible for $40,000 in damage to trees throughout the city.

Since July 24, more than 60 trees in the area of 2200 West from 7800 South to 9000 South — including Veterans Memorial Park — have been deliberately damaged by unknown suspects. Many of the trees were damaged so severely that they will need to be replaced.

Police are asking for public assistance in identifying the suspects, but also want information about any suspicious activity in connection with the damage.

The $750 reward will be given for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the suspect or suspects.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the police department at 801-840-4000. Callers may reference case No. 16H013317.
